FIXED: NordVPN not Working with Netflix

When it comes to unblocking Netflix, NordVPn can undeniably be hailed as ‘the best’. However, there are certain censorship restrictions that impact the OTT platform too.

Here are a few fixes you can try if NordVPN is not working with Netflix.

1. Try connecting to an alternate server

NordVPN has over 6000 servers spanning 61 countries that can’t be banned easily, despite Netflix’s robust VPN-detection technology. If you are unable to access Netflix, close the window and open NordVPN. In the search bar, enter the country name and double-click to locate the fastest server in your selected location. Try reopening Netflix once you are through with this.

If you are still unable to open Netflix, navigate to obfuscated servers within the speciality servers section in NordVPN. Your VPN connection gets masked and it appears like a regular HTTPS traffic which helps evade geo restrictions imposed by Netflix.

2. Restore default DNS settings

In case you have applied custom DNS settings on your system, you will most likely be unable to access Netflix with NordVPN. For instance, if your custom DNS settings has Cloudflare, then you will most likely not be able to access Netflix.

Try resetting your DNS settings to default and that will solve your issue. The preferred DNS server, according to NordVPN, is 103.86.96.100. It also suggests an alternate DNS server 103.86.99.100 to achieve the best results.

3. Clear browser cache

Sometimes, your browser cache can reflect your true location and Netflix might be able to recognise that, block your IP address, and restrict you from accessing your desired content. In order to fix this issue, head to ‘Advanced Settings’ and click on ‘clear the cache’ on all browsers including Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.

If you are a Chrome user, then open the browser and click on the three dots on the upper right corner of the window. Head to ‘More Tools’ and choose ‘Clear Browsing Data’. This will clear all your cache and you will be able to access your favourite shows on Netflix irrespective of location.

4. Disable CyberSec feature on NordVPN

If you are a sucker for an additional layer of security, then CyberSec is a great feature to be explored. However, it might hinder certain functionalities and obstruct NordVPN from functioning properly. CyberSec basically reroutes traffic through DNS servers and safeguards your system from malware. These DNS servers can be easily detected by Netflix and blocked instantly.

Head to the NordVPN app and press the three horizontal lines. Navigate to the preferences tab and un-tick on the box beside the CyberSec feature. It is advisable to keep this feature on when you are not watching Netflix to ensure optimal security of your device.

5. A Dedicated IP address

Whenever you connect to NordVPN, your IP address changes. Others are able to view this IP address and there are high chances that Netflix will blacklist it and you will not be able to view content on Netflix.
