Nothin (1) had caused ripples in the mobile industry with its launch last year. It was class apart from other smartphones in the industry featuring a host of exceptional features like transparent design and glyph lighting interface. The company is now prerpping to an upgrade of the same which promises to take the performance bar a notch higher.

The phone is expected to release in July this year, though the official launch of the phone has not been confirmed yet. The Nothing Phone (2) will fall into the ‘premium smartphone’ category with a price hike of 30% compared to the Nothing (1) which was priced at Rs. 29,999 featuring an 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage.

The design will be similar to the predecessor model but will entail minor alterations. The latest model will have a sleek curved metal frame and an enhanced glyph lighting interface alongside being lightweight. The Nothing Phone (2) will support wireless charging, improved protection against water intrusion, and better dust resistance.

In a bid to reduce carbon footprint, the company confirmed that it will deploy recycled metal and plastic in the manufacturing process and will be manufactured indigenously.

The most likely specifications of the smartphone include a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Phone (2) is probably going to offer greater colour accuracy and higher peak brightness despite having a same display.

The phone will host a 50 MP ultra wide angle camera along with a 50 MP ultra wide-angle lens offering a dual camera setup. The phone might come with a wider aperture and enhanced low-light camera performance. Users will witness a significant improvement in phone performance in the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC-powered Nothing Phone (2) compared to the Snapdragon 778+ SoC Nothing (1).

The phone will also undergo a software upgrade dubbed NothingOS 2 which is currently being developed by the company and would display a stark contrast from the NothingOS 1.5. The phone will feature a 4700 mAh battery and 45W fast wired and up to 15W of wireless charging.
