WhatsApp Getting New Features Including Dark Mode For Desktop

On Wednesday, Facebook owned messaging application WhatsApp announced a number of features which will be coming to not only Android or iOS but also KaiOS and Web version of the chat application. WhatsApp for Android and iOS will get features which will include QR Codes, Animated Stickers and also improvements to the group video calling over the coming few weeks.

The most used messaging application of the world has also claimed to provide support for Jio Phones for the Status feature, additionally, Dark Mode will finally arrive in the WhatsApp Web.

Users will soon get the ability to communicate with other users via an animated sticker. This development comes days after a report suggested that the testing of this feature has already begun on the platform.

Additionally, WhatsApp will also add QR Codes for users where they will be able to add new contacts just by scanning the QR Code.

The company, in a statement, said, “Soon when you meet someone new, you will be able to scan their QR code to add them to your contacts. No more tapping in their digits one at a time,”.

In addition to this, users will now be able to enlarge a participant’s video to full screen in a group video call. In April, WhatsApp increased the group video call limit to 8 people at once.

In a group of up to 8 members, the platform will add a video icon where the users, by simply tapping on the video icon, will be able to begin the group video call directly instead of adding the participants one by one.

In April, a similar feature was added where the video icon was added to WhatsApp groups with a maximum of 4 members in it.

WhatsApp has announced to add support to KaiOS on the Status feature. This will help the Jio Phone users and other KaiOS users in India to able to share updates via WhatsApp Status which is limited for 24 hours.

After years of requesting WhatsApp finally added Dark Mode to the mobile version in March this year and now Dark Mode is coming to the WhatsApp Web as well and the WhatsApp desktop app as well. However, the company has said that these features will reach users “over the next few weeks” when the latest built of WhatsApp will be made live to the public.
