One of the most famous mobile game in India, PUBG Mobile, may soon re-enter the Indian Market, says a new report.

The report comes days after the Tencent Games put the final nail in the coffin for the PUBG Mobile by shutting down the India servers. While the Tencent move made the PUBG Mobile ban in India, kind of, complete, it also offered closure to the whole saga leaving an opportunity for the game to be rebooted in the country.

The talks of a probable reboot of PUBG Mobile in India has been going on for a while now and it involves finding a new distributor of the game as Tencent is now out of the scenario. The main rights of the game are with a Korean firm which created PUBG and then licenced the distribution of PUBG Mobile to Tencent Games which is a China based firm.

Now, the Korean company is looking into ways to bring PUBG back to India.

Going by a report from TechCrunch, the relaunch preparations for the famous PUBG Mobile in India have already started and soon the company might launch a Diwali campaign to re-popularise the game. The report added that as of now, the owner of the PUBG IP is looking to set-up India specific servers which will in-return take care of the concerns of the Indian government around the data and privacy of the India users.

In September this year, the Indian Government, citing security issues, banned PUBG Mobile along with 117 other Chinese apps. Though the step resulted in the game being removed from both Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, it was only end of October that the game was completely shut down in the country with Tencent Games shutting down all Indian servers.

At the same time, Tencent Games announced that it will hand back the publishing rights for PUBG Mobile for Indian to the game’s owner based in South Korea.

India was among the top grossing markets for PUBG Mobile, which gave the game over 175 million ( 17.5 crore) downloads, which is 24% of PUBG Mobile’s total global installs, as per the survey firm SensorTower. PUBG Mobile was also making a whopping Rs 50 crore per month from India last year, according to Entrackr.

With a ray of hope, many Indian gamers would be happy to hear that PUBG Corporation is aiming to return to India, it also casts black clouds over the future of several Made in India games which were almost ready to make official enter on India users’ devices.
