Only verified accounts would be allowed to appear in For You suggestions, Twitter CEO Elon Musk stated on Tuesday. He also explained the reason behind it.
Musk took to Twitter and announced that “Only verified accounts will be permitted to appear in For You suggestions as of April 15.” This move, he believed, was the only realistic way of battling powerful AI bot swarms, which would otherwise be a losing struggle. This is the same reason why only verified Twitter accounts will get access to voting polls.
This new plan will come into effect from 15th April. The microblogging site recently announced that blue ticks for legacy verified accounts will be eliminated from April 1.
Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.

The is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle.
Voting in polls will require verification for same reason.
Unless they have a subscription to Twitter Blue or the business-focused Twitter Verified Organizations plan, the microblogging site would remove the verified check-mark status of accounts that Twitter had certified as notable before Elon Musk’s takeover, Variety reported.
Only individual Twitter users who pay for the Twitter Blue service, priced at $8 per month (approximately Rs. 600) via the web and $11 per month (about Rs. 900) via in-app purchase on iOS and Android, will have verified blue tick. The platform had earlier announced that Twitter Blue is accessible globally.

“We’ll start shutting down our legacy verified programme and removing legacy verified checkmarks on April 1st.” The firm went on to say that people who wish to maintain their blue checkmark on Twitter, can register for the Twitter Blue service. Twitter has not yet clarified measures pertaining to handling of accounts tagged as “notable” on the platform.
Twitter recently launched a gold checkmark for brands and businesses and a grey checkmark for government organisations. Twitter Verified Organizations programme’s subscription cost in the U.S. would be $1,000 per month (plus tax) and $50 per month (plus tax) for each additional affiliate subaccount. This is the only way to get a grey or gold checkmark on your account.
Verified account first made their way onto the platform about 14 years back, in 2009 to help users differentiate authentic accounts “of public interest”—celebrities, politicians, businesses and brands, news organisations, etc. from impostor accounts.
